MGMS Promotion 2025 Important Information

  • Students report to school at 7:56 A.M. 
    Gates open for families/visitors at 8:05 A.M.
    Student Processional Starts at 8:45 A.M.
    Welcome & Flag Salute at 9:00 A.M.
    Ceremony Conclusion Estimated around 10:00 A.M.

Dress Code

Appropriate dress and attire for the 8th Grade Promotion at Matthew Gage Middle School is required to maintain a suitable atmosphere for this special occasion. Please make note of the following guidelines:

Specifications:

*Pants:Dress slacks are preferred but jeans are permitted. No shorts.

*Dresses: Spaghetti straps are allowed. Tops must have at least one strap. 

*Collared shirts:  Must be tucked in unless design suggests otherwise. No T-shirts.

*Shoes: Casual/dress shoes are preferred; tennis shoes are allowed.

*Cords, pins, and medals:  Presented to them by the school should be worn.  

Prohibited Items

No flower or money leis, sashes/stoles can be worn during the ceremony.  However, feel free to bring them to your student for pictures after the ceremony.
Please do not bring any balloons or posters so that guests’ views are not blocked, no EZ-Ups, ice chests, or umbrellas. 

Horns and noisemakers are not allowed because they may drown out the name of another student as their name is announced by the staff. All state laws apply for smoking/vaping.

Saving of Seats

If you arrive early and save seats for family members, ALL seats must be occupied by 8:30 am (including RSVP seats) or they will be released.

Reuniting with Students

Dismissal can be hectic so make a plan ahead of time on where to meet your student.  Students will be dismissed from the stage, so plan to meet your student at a predetermined spot.  

Programs:  There will be two programs per family, however, a PDF of the program will be available on Parent Square after the ceremony.

Normas de vestimenta

Con el fin de mantener un ambiente adecuado para esta ocasión especial, se requiere una vestimenta apropiada para la promoción de 8° grado de la escuela secundaria Matthew Gage. Por favor, tome en cuenta las siguientes instrucciones:


Especificaciones:

*Pantalones: Se prefieren los pantalones de vestir, se permitirán los pantalones de mezclilla. No se permiten los shorts.

*Vestidos: Se permiten los tirantes. Las blusas deben tener por lo menos un tirante.

*Camisas de vestir:  Deben estar fajadas, excepto si el diseño lo permite. No se permiten las camisetas.

*Zapatos: Se prefieren los zapatos de vestir o casuales; se permitirán los tenis.

*Cordones, insignias y medallas:  Si son proporcionadas por la escuela, deben usarse.


Artículos prohibidos

  • No se permiten las guirnaldas o los collares de flores, bandas ni estolas durante la ceremonia.  Sin embargo, se puede usar después de la ceremonia.

    No se permiten globos ni carteles para no bloquear la vista de los invitados, ni tampoco EZ-Ups, hieleras ni paraguas. 

    No se permiten cornetas ni instrumentos que hagan ruido, ya que pueden impedir escuchar los  nombres de los estudiantes cuando sean anunciados por el personal. Se aplicarán las leyes estatales con respecto al consumo de los cigarros.


Reserva de asientos

Si usted llega temprano y reserva asientos para sus familiares, TODOS los asientos deben estar ocupados antes de las 8:30 a. m. (incluyendo los asientos reservados RSVP) o serán disponibles para otros.

Réunion con sus estudiantes

La salida puede ser caótica, así que planifique con anticipación un lugar donde reunirse con su estudiante.  Los estudiantes saldrán del escenario, así que pónganse de acuerdo donde reunirse.


Programas:  Sólo se proporcionarán dos programas por familia, si gusta otra copia visite Parent Square.
